Magnetization in metals is usually produced from magnetic clamping, induction heating, stuck magnetic flux leakage tools, electrical welding, mechanical vibrations, grinding, cold deformation and pipe storage in a north-south direction.
Magnetization affects line pipe, drill pipe, casing strings, tubing strings and more. Should welding be required to join materials, the magnetism could result in poor quality welding results that would be rejectable when radiographed or phased array inspected.
