Robotic inspection is how TechCorr keeps people out of confined spaces and heights while collecting higher-quality data. Magnetic crawler robots climb tank shells and roofs, UAV drones map flare stacks and cooling towers, and submersibles inspect tank floors underwater — all while the asset stays in service.
What can robotic inspection do that a human crew cannot?
Robots reach places that are unsafe, expensive, or impossible for a person: the underside of a floating roof, the inside of a live tank, the top of a flare stack, and the shell of a tank under inert gas. They also collect continuous, position-encoded data instead of point readings, so the inspection is repeatable year over year. Combined with Rope Access for the spots a robot cannot reach, robotics is the backbone of our Predictive Maintenance & Autonomous Inspection program.
Which robotic platforms does TechCorr deploy?
TechCorr uses magnetic crawler units for vertical shell and roof inspection, tethered and wireless submersibles for in-service tank floor scanning, and UAV drones for aerial mapping of stacks, cooling towers, and large structural assets. The platform is selected by asset, access, and data requirement — not by a single vendor relationship.
Does robotic inspection require taking the asset offline?
Most robotic inspection is performed in service. Tank floor submersibles scan through product; shell crawlers climb the exterior while the tank operates; drones map flare systems during short planned flaring windows. This is the foundation of Online Monitoring and a core reason clients avoid costly shutdowns.
How is robotic data turned into integrity decisions?
Every robotic scan produces position-encoded thickness, visual, and 3D data that feeds directly into our Asset Integrity Management workflow. Corrosion rates, remaining-life calculations, and inspection planning all draw on the same dataset, so your next inspection is data-driven rather than calendar-driven.
What certifications back TechCorr's robotic inspection?
Robotic inspection is supervised by API 510/570/653-certified inspectors and ASNT Level II/III technicians. UAV operations are conducted by licensed pilots under our safety management system. Request a quote to scope a robotic inspection for your asset.
